In this TWEEKLY Spotlight, I caught up with Trecia Kat. Trecia is an advocate for CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript, NextJS, blogger, and a dog lover!
Trecia has been working with technology for nearly two years. She remembers writing her first line of code using Visual Basic .NET and feeling so happy to be controlling a computer with code. From that point, Trecia was hooked on coding.
When asked what her favorite part of technology is, Trecia told me “The community is really the best part of technology because I've never felt alone nor belittled. Learning is such a breeze because of the tremendous love and support I've received and still continue to receive”. Trecia also told me she values continuous learning and exposure to different technology stacks.
Trecia is extremely goal-oriented. She is focused on landing a job in technology. She is no stranger to imposter syndrome but uses that feeling to drive her search for knowledge and to master her craft.
The biggest surprise for Trecia around technology has been how it’s ok to admit that you don’t know something and to Google for answers. At first, she felt like Googling for an answer was like cheating on an exam. After a while though, she was glad to realize that no one knows everything and that everyone has to Google for code help at some point.
Apart from technology, Trecia enjoys painting, drawing, and reading, especially fictional mystery and true crime. She is also working on a side project and personal website, both of which are currently in stealth.
